जवाहरलाल मोतीलाल नेहरू हे भारताचे पहिले पंतप्रधान व भारतीय स्वातंत्र्य चळवळीत अग्रणी असलेले भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कॉंग्रेस पक्षाचे लोकप्रिय नेते होते. ते पंडित नेहरू व चाचा नेहरू या नावांनीही ओळखले जातात.पंडित नेहरूंना मुले फार आवडत , म्हणून मुले त्यांना चाचा नेहरू म्हणायचे.
श्री जवाहरलाल नेहरू यांचा जन्म अलाहाबाद येथे काश्मिरी पंडितांच्या घरी नोव्हेंबर १४, इ.स. १८८९ रोजी झाला. फेब्रुवारी ७, इ.स. १९१६ रोजी वयाच्या २६ व्या वर्षी त्यांचा विवाह कमला कौल यांच्याशी झाला. इ.स. १९१७ साली त्यांना इंदिरा प्रियदर्शिनी ही कन्या झाली. जवाहरलाल यांचे पिता मोतीलाल नेहरू यांचे फेब्रुवारी ६, इ.स. १९३१ रोजी व पत्नी श्रीमती कमला नेहरू यांचे फेब्रुवारी २८, इ.स. १९३६ रोजी निधन झाले.
